Hi, my name is Colleen Harland. I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and Registered Nurse. I began my career in maternity as a hospital postpartum nurse prior to providing in-home maternal child care as a visiting nurse. For the past 20 years I have worked in a community hospital as an IBCLC supporting new parents and babies, including babies that require more specialized care in a Level II nursery. In this role I also facilitated weekly support groups in the hospital and provided outpatient clinic visits.
In this role I have seen the struggles many parents experience, especially after arriving home with their little one. Whether it’s your first or your third child, each experience is unique and presents different challenges. My goal is to help you navigate this time and provide evidence-based lactation support, with a non-judgmental approach. I understand the importance of accessing comprehensive lactation care, and the benefits of having that support in your own home. I offer day, evening, and weekend appointments and will always do my best to accommodate your needs as quickly as possible.
Just as no two babies are alike, your feeding plan is as individual as you and your baby are. Given the proper support, tools, and resources you can have a fulfilling experience of nourishing and nurturing your baby with confidence.
I’m a mom of three grown children and remember the struggles and anxiety I faced breastfeeding, along with the frustration of not having access to information and support. My goal is to help others who are experiencing their own personal challenges to not only succeed, but thrive and enjoy this wonderful stage of their baby’s life.
I look forward to meeting you and your baby, and the opportunity for us to work together on your breastfeeding journey.
